SME #1 Content for Review

The following artefacts are now available for your perusal through the secure Artena-Documents page of our site-

1.       Glossary

This is a high level definition of the business terms involved in Prescribed and Offered teaching. We would be building on this document as we go through each SME work-shop.

2.       Use-case Descriptions and Diagrams

We have documented all the system processes for Prescribed and Offered Teaching in the form of use-case descriptions and diagrams. We have followed the same template for structuring the use-cases as we had discussed during the SME work-shop. These use-cases contain all the existing functionality offered by Prescribed and Offered Teaching and also the recommendations for the additional system functionality for both prescribed and offered teaching sections as discussed during the SME work-shop.

3.       Field Specification

These documents contain a description of the fields related to the various entities (Example - Programme, Level, Stage etc.) in Prescribed and Offered teaching. It also contains the business rules related to the fields. These documents are to be used as a reference, in case any further details need to be added to the use-case description.

4.       Field Changes

This document contains the field changes for the prescribed and offered teaching sections that were discussed during the SME work-shop.

We would like you to review the above requirement artefacts by 17th August, 2007. We would primarily require your feedback/comments on the Use-case descriptions and the Field changes document. If you think you need more time to review the artefacts, kindly let us know your comments/feedback. We need to adhere to this time-line as much as possible, since the development work can commence only after we have received your comments/feedback regarding the requirement artefacts.

Feedback/Comment mechanism -

We encourage you to use the forum (available through the SMSS web-site) during your review of the SME materials. In order to access the forum you will login using your existing SMSS website username and password.  If you don't have a login, click the register button on the main page at the top right.  We have set up categories, topics, and posts based on the type of feedback we wish to gather from you. Please utilize these new enhancements during the new development process. We will plan to check the forums on a daily basis to moderate, add new topics where necessary, and respond to SME questions/concerns. There are also subscriber capabilities on the forum so you can stay current with the conversation. Be advised that whatever you post through the forum will be accessible to other sites and SMSS staff, but will remain in a secure environment. Also, direct email communication between SMSS and site users may be added to the forum if it will be helpful to discussion.

Feel free to contact David Stember (david.stember@smss.org.nz) or myself (swapnil.gandhi@smss.org.nz) if you require clarification regarding the requirement artefacts, forums or anything else.

Thanks again for your help with this important activity, which would enable us to design the system which best suits your needs!

Best regards,
